Adversity Gets Us What We Want

Hello Gorgeous Beautiful Successful Friends,
The other day a friend of mine, Russell Yermal, posted a note on Facebook about Cognitive Machines.
I am completely failing to see why people are so keen to have an easier life.
From my life experiences and the teachings I have learned and lived I have realized that challenges, hardships, obstacles and adversity are opportunities to grow.
The meaning we place on the things that happen to us and the situations we find ourselves in really helps to define how we feel about something.
Each opportunity (adversity, challenge, obstacle) that comes our way is an opportunity to let go of limiting beliefs and to more fully know our power and the abundance of love and success that is available to us.
People have amazing perceptions of me and I really love the stories people come up with about my life. The most common story that people make is that I grew up with an amazing amount of comfort and love. I love to tap into the energy that those people create. Alas, that is pretty much the opposite of what I experienced.
It has taken me years, literally a lifetime to fully come to terms and peace within myself. My past is very gritty.
Yet my past has made me who I am. From an early age I had to rely on my connection to the Divine. What I fully realize is that had I had an upbringing with bright eyed, bushy tailed parents that more fully in alignment with the Divinity, unconditional love, and personal happiness I would be a totally different person. My impetus for change would be minimal. Why oh why would I throw myself into a lifetime of seeking comfort and information from the Divinity if my life was already comfortable?
Let me give you an example that comes to mind. A friend of mine has been in a relationship for years with one of the most beautiful women I know. When I say beautiful I mean physically and most of all spiritually. She isn’t a person that has trained or studied spirituality, she just naturally shines with the Light of Divinity and I have learned huge amounts from her. Despite her amazing presence and beauty her partner has known for a few years that she wasn’t the right person for him. Regardless of this knowing it was easy for him to maintain the relationship because of how easy it was.
His partner was bright eyed, bushy tailed and happy. He just knew it wasn’t the right relationship for him. So he started to move away from his spirituality and move towards things that took him further away from his reality, like drinking and drugs. Before he knew it years had passed.
The whole situation with my friend is an opportunity for him to grow. It’s an opportunity for him to step out of his comfort zone and by doing so to experience even more happiness, love, power and joy.
I like the word power. To me power means having the ability to love everything freely of conditions. It is very powerful to be able to do that. I also believe that knowledge is power, but not nearly as powerful as the ability to love unconditionally.
To me challenges, adversity, the upsets that come into our lives come because we are not listening to our Inner Guidance on a consistent basis. Sure it can be uncomfortable when we experience the chaos. But the whole situation creates a clearing out and a strengthening of spirit. It brings us closer to what we want and who we are.
Take the easy path, think good thoughts, feel good; but always listen to your Inner Guidance and take heed.
Find ways to feel good about where you are and what is going on. All the forces of Source (Divinity) are guiding you every second of every day to the dreams you created before you came to this physical experience.
Know that on the other side of anything that doesn’t feel good is really good feeling stuff. Use that to feel better now, regardless of what is going on. You will always overcome your obstacles and they will always leave you with more of what you want!
Shine your light for all to see and know that I love you and I believe in you!
With Love and Appreciation,

Thank you for such a beautiful note Angela. Abraham Hicks also says the same thing, that it is far more fulfilling to be born into a life where you have the opportunity to send out hundreds of rockets of desires and then revel in joy at the unfolding of these desires, than to be born into an environment that doesn’t inspire desire/change and where we just float along. When we desire, when we manifest, we are living to our potential with Source energy constantly and freely flowing through us…that indeed is delicious.
Love and light,

You are so right.. every time I experience a challenge, a hurt, an obstacle, set back… even though it feels horrible in the moment, I know with certainty that it is for my highest good. When it happens I always say this little welcoming prayer:
“Welcome, welcome, welcome. I welcome everything that comes to me today because I know it’s for my healing. I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations, and conditions. I let go of my desire for power and control. I let go of my desire for affection, esteem, approval and pleasure. I let go of my desire for survival and security. I let go of my desire to change any situation, condition, person, or myself.”
