What You Watch Effects Your Reality!!!

How are you feeling today? Are you feeling good? Are you thoughts happy and supporting your sense of well being?
Last week I had the opportunity to more fully realize the effect of having negativity in my environment. I’ve been resting and getting more into alignment as my body has the flu. To pass the time I’ve been watching some TV shows that friends have recorded for me. Perhaps because I was feeling quite miserable and a bit bored last week I spent a huge chunk of time watching some episodes of a show that really affected my energy and the way I was thinking.
Normally I stay away from anything that is ‘gritty’. I am ususally really careful in what I watch. But a friends boyfriend recommended it and my friend made it available to me and I wanted to check it out. It was amazing to see how much I was affected by the story line and the unhappiness of the main character.
My daughter came to visit me in bed while I was watching it and I had to turn it off. She’s 10, she wisely has a great aversion to gritty programs and movies. Even though Serena had come in to my reality and given me a heads up to what I was doing I persisted in finishing the episode I started as soon as she left. Then when I was in bed that night I had new thoughts and ideas running through my head that were not my usual pleasant thoughts.
The next day I had the choice as to whether to persist watching or not. I kept watching, I had the whole first series and the story line had captivated me so much I wanted to see it to fruition. I am persistent.
I have studied and trained how to control my mind and thoughts. This is still something I am learning and practising on a daily basis.
What I really want to share with you is that spending a day and a half watching gritty, unhappy, disconnected examples of manufactured reality took me out of my default alignment. I had to work at getting back to the base I usually start from to move myself forward.
That second day I spoke to Serena about it. I told her about what I had been watching and how much it had affected my thoughts and how I felt about myself and viewed my life. I told her that from now on I would use her as a guide to what I watch. If it is something I wouldn’t want her to watch then I am definitely not going to watch it myself.
Everything you take in and absorb affects how you view yourself and your life. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do you are affected. I spend hours every day connecting to Source Energy, yet watching episodes of a gritty program, even though I fast forwarded through the bad bits (lots of them) I was still affected.
Set a standard for yourself of what you allow into your personal space. What you take on board affects how you think, which then affects how you feel and ultimately it affects your ability to be living the life you want to live.
I love you.
Thank you.

I completely agree with you Angela. It’s easy to forget sometimes that all media can really affect us…it’s been a while since I really ‘properly’ read a newspaper or watched the news and apart from my business I also work as a reporter (!) but I find that the Universe gives you the info you need either via people’s comments or ‘lighter’ articles online if, like in my case, that’s what you’re looking for…
My happiness and thoughts of joy are the most important thing to me and therefore not even the juiciest (and negative) piece of celebrity gossip on the Internet, the very real situation in Iraq on the news, or the intriguing national Peruvian government corruption stories are going to shift my energy!
Much love and bear hugs to you!
Hooray for happy thoughts! xx
Angela - great insight. It is becoming more and more difficult to avoid the negative that persists around us.
I was in a meeting yesterday with about 30 people and as the presentation went on the under current of negative response was almost deafening. The negative posture of most of the individuals was blinding. Why did they bother to come in the first place? for the free coffee and donuts?
I am participating in a mental fast these days to remove as much of this negativity from my consciousness as possible so I can move on and grow.
Obstacles will come along, but then we must learn the lesson and move on. Get the information and incorporate it into our specific knowledge base so it can be used to build our plan of action.
And then go take action.
Again thanks.
Jeff
Dear Gorgeous Jeff,
Thank you for taking the time to write and comment on my post.
From your message I would say that grounding, light of Creator and protection would be a very good thing for you to practice on a daily basis for a few weeks to support your mental fast.
You have brought up a really good point in your post. It isn’t just about what we watch or listen to. It is also about the natural energy we take on board from other people in our daily lives.
This week I was working with a client and we were talking about this very thing. Like you she is aware and ’sensitive’ to the subtle and in your case not so subtle energies. She was thinking that maybe the people around her were ‘harsh’.
Unless you are going to go to the top of a mountain or reside in a cave or the comfort of your home away from others part of your “mental fast’ would be greatly benefited by having control of your own thoughts and energy. The best way of doing this is to ground. I have a free audio meditation on it. (There are also some posts that I have written about it.)
If you would like to discuss this further please feel free to contact me!
You are doing brilliantly!

Hi Angela,
Thank you for your post. I have been on a media fast for the past year, although sometimes I have to admit I do get drawn into the drama. And thats when I have to remember that it is all drama and sensationalism because unfortunately that is what sells. Media is a business that feeds on people insecurities. I remember one of my collegues saying “if you don’t program yourself someone else will”. That really stuck with me, it is such a powerful statement. I keep that in mind and am very selective with what I let into my environment and only watch movies that feed my spirit many of them being on nature and animals.
Thanks again, for your insight on this topic.
Susan
Dear Gorgeous Susan,
Thank you so much for your comment! I love that quote from your colleague. It reminds me of a quote from one of my Native teachers, “When you can control your mind you can control the Universe.”
Our mind is so powerful and we should look after it by feeding it positive high vibration energy!
Thank you! You are beautiful and loved!
